CHICAGO, IL-- July 15, 2009 - Capital Insight Partners, specialists in bank capital raising, mergers & acquisitions, strategic advisory and aftermarket support today announced Eliot Stark has joined the firm's executive team as managing director. Capital Insight offers clients access to entrepreneurially minded business leaders in a variety of financial and operational disciplines through its executive team and members of its advisory board, with an emphasis on community banks under $3 billion in assets.
Stark brings more than 30 years of commercial banking experience to the team. He is a former executive of finance and planning for Comerica, a multi-billion dollar national commercial bank and has conducted over 50 bank merger and acquisition transactions in numerous states. Most recently, Stark joined a small team and acquired a distressed bank in Michigan. He went on to serve as managing director, vice chairman, and CFO while overseeing substantial growth and building the institution into a profitable $500 million asset franchise in Michigan.

Eisen noted banks have "taken it on the chin" in the past few years in the stock market and the capital markets. However, the profound changes and challenges in the banking industry have also created opportunity for well-managed banks to strengthen and grow through organic expansion or through the considerable acquisition or merger opportunities that exist today. The ability to successfully develop strategies and raise capital hinges on expanding beyond traditional practices and accessing new sources of capital.

Stark has served as an independent consultant to corporate boards and management teams for a number of years, with accomplishments that include: advising a partnership on the financing and acquisition of auto parts manufacturing company in Mexico and serving as CFO, successfully advised $1 billion auto parts manufacturer on the structuring and refinancing of $500 million of bank debt, creating a $135 million structured finance proposal for Big 3 body shop tooling bid and advising potential investors on the purchase out of bankruptcy of an $800 million revenue integrated specialty steel company.
Previously, he was SVP - planning and EVP - finance for Compuware Corporation, overseeing a professional staff of more than 300, revitalizing of internal financial functions and introducing flexible information systems, M&A (including 12 acquisitions), corporate development, marketing and employee recruitment, business and financial planning, information systems and financial reporting. Before joining Compuware, in a 20-year career with Comerica Incorporated, Stark served as SVP - information technology services, SVP - real estate development and management, First VP - Corporate Development, and Financial Officer. He holds an MBA in Finance from University of Detroit and a BS in Business from Wayne State University. He's a member of the Endowment Committee at the Detroit Institute of Arts and the Investment Oversight Committee of the Detroit Investment Fund.
